Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000 (Renewal of Temporary Provisions) Order 2010 comes into force

The Order prescribes that the temporary provisions of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000 will continue to have effect until 28 March 2011. The temporary provisions require the chief constable to appoint an even number of persons treated as Roman Catholic and persons not so treated as police trainees and police support staff, and allow appointments of police officers from suitably qualified external candidates.
