Social Security Benefits Up-rating Regulations 2012 come into force

Implementation date: 9 April 2012

The Regulations restrict the application of the increases set out in the Social Security Benefits Up-rating Order 2012 (SI 2012/780) where the beneficiary does not reside in Great Britain. They also prescribe that, where a question arises about the effect of the Order on a benefit already in payment, the altered rates will not apply until that question is determined by the Secretary of State, the First-tier Tribunal or the Upper Tribunal. The Regulations can be viewed on the UK legislation website.
