Unilever is to begin a year-long trial of a four-day week at its offices in New Zealand with the aim of changing the way work is done, not increasing the hours worked over four days.
Employers can require workers to take holiday and cancel workers' holiday, provided enough notice is given, and furloughed workers continue to accrue statutory holiday entitlements, it has been confirmed in newly published government guidance.
Workers who have not taken all of their statutory annual leave entitlement this year due to the coronavirus will be able to carry it over into the next two leave years, the Government has announced.
