National minimum wage loophole closed

Legislation came into force on 8 July 2003 to close a loophole in the existing statutory minimum wage provision that prevented employees from claiming arrears from former employers. The National Minimum Wage (Enforcement Notices) Act 2003 enables Inland Revenue officers to issue enforcement notices that require payment of minimum wage arrears to former as well as current employees.
