Webinar: Pregnancy sickness - managing absence issues successfully

Jo Broadbent

Employers need to take particular care when managing sickness absence during pregnancy as the legal framework protecting pregnant employees is extensive. Health and safety considerations are important too and you must check that pregnant employees have safe working conditions and make any necessary adjustments.

Each case of sickness absence presents its own particular challenges. Is the reason for the absence pregnancy related? Is any aspect of the pregnant employee's work contributing to their illness or absence? Should all aspects of the sickness absence procedure be disregarded?

In this webinar, Jo Broadbent, counsel knowledge lawyer at law firm Hogan Lovells, tackles these issues and more, including:

  • an overview of the statutory provisions on sickness and health and safety during pregnancy;
  • the extent of the entitlement to pay during sickness absence; and
  • offering practical guidance on handling sensitive conversations and the steps that can be taken to support an employee during traumatic situations, such as miscarriage and still birth.

This 60-minute webinar includes an extended Q&A session.
