Style police: more employers tighten up on appearance
Our latest research on the issue suggests
employers are increasingly turning to formalised dress code policies - even
including them in contracts of employment - as standards of appearance become
more relaxed.
Key points
- More than two-thirds (67%) of the dress code
policies operated by our panel of respondents are included as regulations
forming part of the employment contract, rather than informal guidelines:
an increase of 15 percentage points compared with the results of the 2003
IRS survey of dress codes.
