Employers are required to assess the risks to employees from working practices, including lone working, and put in place measures to prevent or control the risks identified by the assessment.
Particular issues that the employer may need to consider in relation to a lone worker include the remoteness of the workplace, how the lone worker will obtain help in the event of an emergency and potential communication problems.
In addition, lone workers may be prone to depression and feelings of isolation.
