Deal with a trivial or frivolous grievance
Key points
Where an employee raises a grievance that appears to be trivial or frivolous, it is likely to be appropriate for the employer to deal with it informally.
The employer should take steps to ensure that the employee does not have a legitimate concern.
If it is satisfied that the grievance is trivial or frivolous, the employer should inform the employee that it will not deal with the grievance under the formal grievance procedure, and explain why.
