Ensure that workers are receiving the minimum daily rest periods provided for by the Working Time Regulations 1998
Key points
Under the Working Time Regulations 1998, workers are entitled to a minimum daily rest period between each working day.
The length of the minimum rest period required is different for adults and young workers.
There are a number of exclusions to the right to minimum daily rest periods, for example in relation to shift workers when they change shift. However, in these circumstances, the worker is entitled to an equivalent period of compensatory rest.
