Issue a formal warning to an underperforming employee
Key points
If, at the end of a formal performance management hearing, the conclusion is that the employee has been given a reasonable opportunity to improve, but their performance has not met the required standard, the employer should issue a formal warning.
The employer will need to decide for how long the warning will remain live.
