Where an employee has given notice that they intend to take ordinary parental leave, except in certain defined circumstances, the employer can postpone the period of leave for up to six months.
To postpone the leave, the employer must write to the employee within seven days of receiving the notice, providing specified information, including the reason for the postponement.
