Craig has been employed by his employer for four years when his contract of employment is terminated on the grounds of his long-term incapacity for work.

He has been off sick for almost a year and has exhausted his entitlement to both statutory and contractual sick pay. Under his contract, he is entitled to receive one month's notice of termination of employment.
