Global agreement signed at Staedtler

In November 2006, Staedtler, a Germany‑based manufacturer of writing instruments, signed an international framework agreement on workers' rights with the Building and Woodworkers' International (BWI) and the German union IG Metall.

The accord includes the standard range of labour rights and employment issues covered by such global agreements (Global agreements - state of play), covering: bans on child and forced labour; non-discrimination; freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining; decent wages; elimination of excessive working hours; health and safety; training; HIV/AIDS education and prevention; and social benefits.
