In relation to what types of study or training can an employee make a statutory request?

The right to make a request in relation to study or training applies to study or training that has the purpose of improving the employee's effectiveness in the employer's business, and improving the performance of the employer's business.

The training can be provided by the employer or by an external provider; can be undertaken while the employee is carrying out his or her work, but does not have to be; and can be supervised or unsupervised. It does not have to lead to a qualification.
