When a fixed-term employee is offered a permanent contract following on immediately from the fixed-term period, when does his or her period of continuous service start?

If an employee is offered a permanent contract following on immediately from a fixed-term contract, his or her period of continuous service starts on the day that he or she commenced work on the fixed-term contract. If there has been a series of fixed-term contracts, continuity runs from the first day of the first contract. Employees therefore accrue continuous service whilst employed on fixed-term contracts.
