EU: European Council adopts jobs and growth strategy
A European Council summit on 16 June 2010 formally adopted the EU's new jobs and growth strategy, Europe 2020, which aims to achieve a Europe-wide employment rate of 75%.
The European Council had reached broad agreement on the 10-year strategy, which succeeds the 2000-10 Lisbon strategy, in March 2010.
