Proposed reform of incapacity benefit

The government has published a green paper on welfare reform, which contains detailed proposals for reforming incapacity benefit and helping older workers and lone parents into employment, seeking to achieve an 80% employment rate.

On 24 January 2006, the government announced a radical reform of the welfare state with the publication of the green paper A new deal for welfare: empowering people to work.
