When to use this model flexible working policy
Use this model policy to communicate your organisation's approach to flexible working requests submitted on or after 6 April 2024. This is the date on which reforms to the right to request flexible working take effect - see below for a breakdown of the changes. See Flexible working requests policy (requests submitted before 6 April 2024) for a policy to use for flexible working requests submitted before 6 April 2024.

This version of the policy is the final draft, unchanged from our previous preliminary draft, reflecting reforms that have been introduced by:
- the Flexible Working (Amendment) Regulations 2023;
- the Employment Relations (Flexible Working) Act 2023 implemented by the Employment Relations (Flexible Working) Act 2023 (Commencement) Regulations 2024; and
- changes to the revised Acas code of practice on requests for flexible working, introduced via the Code of Practice (Requests for Flexible Working) Order 2024 (SI 2024/429).
