Employment Act (Northern Ireland) 2010 comes into force

Implementation date: 5 August 2010

The Act makes a number of changes to employment law in Northern Ireland, including: new powers to enforce legislation relating to employment agencies and the national minimum wage; new powers for Industrial Tribunals to order compensation for workers who have suffered financial loss due to a failure to pay redundancy pay or an unlawful deduction from their wages; and provisions relating to representation before the Industrial Court.
