Employment Relations Act 2004, sections 29-32, 37 and 38 come into force

Sections 29 to 32 extend the rights of workers not be subjected to a detriment for being a member of a trade union or refusing to take an inducement not to join a trade union. Section 37 amends the role of a companion at a disciplinary or grievance hearing, while section 38 extends the jurisdiction of Employment Appeals Tribunals. The Employment Relations Act 2004 (Commencement No 1 and Transitional Provisions) Order 2004 brings these sections into force. The Act, explanatory notes to the Act and Order can be viewed on the OPSI website.
