Argos: 3.1% rise for staff

Catalogue retailer Argos has increased basic pay rates by 3.1% for around 18,000 retail staff, effective from 1 April 2005. A separate pay review effective from the same date saw rates for 1,950 store managers increase by 2.9%.

As a result of the pay review, the basic rate for a provincial sales assistant aged 18 and above increases from £4.90 to £5.05 an hour (£195.69 for a 38.75-hour week).
