B&Q staff: 3% paybill increase

B&Q has awarded its 28,500 store staff pay rises from a total paybill increase of 3%, with effect from 1 February 2005. Customer advisers on the lowest pay grade received a 6% rise to their basic pay rates, increasing the rate for staff in zone A, the lowest provincial pay zone, by 23p from £4.92 to £5.15 an hour. Higher rates of hourly pay linked to the completion of phases of an in-house training scheme were increased by 4% and are shown in the table below.
