Builders' rates rise by up to 10.4%

An agreement between the Transport and General Workers' Union (TGWU) and the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) has resulted in increases of 10.4% in the basic hourly rate for building craft workers with a Scottish/National Vocational (level 3) qualification, taking it from £8.38 to £9.25, with effect from 13 June 2005.

Those with a level 2 qualification see their basic hourly rate improve from £7.22 to £7.95, a rise of 10.1%.
