The 39,000 craft and associated employees and 2,000 apprentices employed by local councils receive a 2.95% basic pay increase from 1 April 2005, in the second year of a three-year award.
The deal, agreed through a joint negotiating committee of local government employers and unions, also gives a 33% increase to tool allowances and insurance rates, based on 31 March 2004 levels.
