Council: Working time Directive extended to road transport

The proposal extending some of the protection afforded by the 1993 Working Time Directive to mobile workers in the road transport sector has finally been adopted.

The Commission originally issued this proposal in November 1998 after social partner talks aimed at reaching an agreement on the extension of the Working Time Directive to mobile workers in the road transport sector had collapsed.
