Engineering construction industry pay deal yields 4.4% rise

A three-year deal covering unskilled, semi-skilled and craft grades working in the engineering construction industry has yielded a 4.4% increase on national base, overtime and shift rates, as well as travel allowances, in the first stage of the agreement, effective from 4 June 2007. As the second stage of the deal comes into effect on 28 January 2008, the first stage runs over a seven-month period and is worth just over 7.5% on an annualised basis.
