Scottish printers' rates improved by 3.3%

    Under the terms of a settlement negotiated by the Scottish Print Employers' Federation (SPEF) and the print and paper union section of Unite (Amicus section), minimum grade rates, apprentice rates and machine extras for some 8,000 Scottish printworkers employed in general printing companies increased by 3.3% with effect from 1 July 2007. Craftworkers (grade B) – the largest category of employees covered by the deal – receive a rise of £8.59 a week, bringing their minimum weekly rate to £268.93.
