Recalculate an employee's statutory maternity pay entitlement where she has received a pay rise

  • If an employee receives a pay rise at any time between the start of her maternity pay calculation period and the end of her maternity leave, this will affect the calculation of her statutory maternity pay. The employer will have to recalculate her weekly earnings for the purpose of the statutory maternity pay calculation, and backdate the increase in statutory maternity pay to the start of the maternity pay period.
  • A pay rise may also mean that an employee becomes retrospectively entitled to statutory maternity pay where her earnings were initially too low for her to receive statutory maternity pay.
