Occupational sick pay policies: 2012 XpertHR survey

This report on the XpertHR survey of occupational sick pay schemes looks at notification and evidence requirements and the circumstances in which sick pay can be withheld. We also give an overview of changes that organisations have made, and are planning to make, to their sick pay policies.

Key points

  • Just over half (51.4%) of respondents require employees to register their absence before their normal start time or the start of their shift, with some additional organisations setting a precise limit, commonly one hour before the shift begins.
