With whom is an employer required to consult about proposed changes to a pension scheme?

If consultation arrangements already exist with a trade union, or under an agreement satisfying the requirements of the Information and Consultation of Employees Regulations 2004 (SI 2004/3426), an employer that is proposing changes to a pension scheme should consult with the relevant representatives in accordance with those prior arrangements. If no such consultation arrangements exist, it should arrange for the election of representatives and consult those representatives. If no prior consultation arrangements exist and no representatives are elected it must consult directly with each affected employee.
