Temporary relaxation of EU rules on drivers' hours introduced

EU rules on drivers' hours are temporary relaxed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The enforcement of drivers' hours rules are relaxed until 31 May 2020 in England, Scotland and Wales for drivers who supply supermarkets with food, non-food items (personal care and household paper and cleaning) and non-prescription drugs on certain journeys, such as transport hub deliveries to stores or from manufacturer or supplier to stores. From 23 March 2020 to 31 May 2020 in England, Wales and Scotland the relaxation of the enforcement of EU drivers' hours rules and domestic drivers' hours rules extends to include anyone transporting goods within any sector and for any journey.
