How much parental bereavement leave can an employee take?

An employee can take one or two weeks of statutory parental bereavement leave. The leave can be taken as a single block or as two separate blocks of one week at different times. It cannot be taken as individual days.

The leave must be taken within the first 56 weeks following the death of a child.

In the event of the death of more than one child, the employee is entitled to two weeks' parental bereavement leave for each child.
